- On or about 14-Feb-96 22:01:31 Walter R Francis typed the following words
- about "Thor not deleting messages properly..". My reply is thus...
-
-
- WRF> I have my global prefs set where it keeps messages for 3 days, and a max
- WRF> 200 messages.
-
- WRF> I have several Amiga, Amateur radio, and bicycle newsgroups that I get f
- WRF> the server and it all works fine, except I haven't read my bicycle newsg
- WRF> in about two weeks and it's NOT deleting the messages in those newsgroup
-
- WRF> I am trying to figure out why it's doing it, I can go in and clear them
- WRF> myself I suppose.
-
- It is working as designed if the messages are unread.
-
- WRF> The configuration for those newsgroups is set to Use Global. Does Thor
- WRF> delete unread messages with PackBBS?
-
- Thor *DOES* *NOT* delete unread messages when you pack the BBS. If you click
- Catchup from either the Dock or General menu item Thor will mark all unread
- messages in the conference as read. Then Pack/Purge will delete them per your
- defaults.
-
- WRF> I run this every morning at 4am:
-
- WRF> PackBBS >>AmiTCP:Thor/PackBBS.LOG "UK Slip"
-
- WRF> And I get a partial list such as:
-
- WRF> rec.bicycles.marketplace : 243 200
- WRF> rec.bicycles.misc : 212 200
- WRF> rec.bicycles.off-road : 1298 1298
- WRF> rec.bicycles.tech : 1131 1131
- WRF> rec.radio.amateur.antenna : 207 200
-
- WRF> I haven't read any bicycle newsgroups recently, and they're ALL set up t
- WRF> same way!
-
- WRF> It takes about 4 minutes to load in the stupid messages... *sigh*
-
- WRF> AND it's now griping at me to register.. Good timing. I wish I had the
- WRF> money.
